3 Ways Moving Clutter Into Storage This Spring Can Help You Enjoy Your Summer

About Me
storage units for family fun equipment

Do you live in an apartment with your family? Do you find it difficult to find the space that is needed for the equipment and things you need for family fun? I was having a very hard time finding room in my apartment for the summer fun equipment for the entire family. Our family really enjoys going on bike rides together, but we didn't have anywhere at the apartment to store bikes of our own, so we would rent bikes at the local trail. I finally had enough with spending the money on the rentals and bought each member of the family a bike. We have since used a storage unit to store the bikes and many things we need for family fun. Find out how we have maximized our family fun by utilizing a storage unit.

3 Ways Moving Clutter Into Storage This Spring Can Help You Enjoy Your Summer

If you have been putting off moving all that home clutter into storage for a while now, then this spring is the perfect time to finally get your house in order. Not only can putting all of your unused home items in a self-storage facility keep them in better shape over the years, especially when choosing a climate-controlled unit, but you can then enjoy all of the extra free space in your home and garage. Before you put off renting that unit for yet another season, remind yourself of these three ways that you could get a lot more fun out of that space this spring and summer by regaining use of that space currently occupied by clutter.

1. Get That Clutter Away from Windows and Doors

During the spring-time, you want to be able to open windows and walk freely in and out of front and back doors without having to move items that are in your way. There is a reason "spring cleaning" is so popular -- spring is the perfect time to declutter your home to make it feel more airy and bright. Move all that clutter that started building up in front of doors that you rarely use in the winter into storage, so you have full access to them when you want to take a walk out back this summer.

Then, remove any winter decorations on windows that are blocking the sunshine, such as winter wreaths and other left-over seasonal decor. Also remove general clutter from walkways in your home, so you or your children can run in and out of the house without knocking items over or tripping on them. If you have ever heard of Feng Shui, then you may have heard that allowing energy and light to flow through your home freely can help everyone in your home thrive.

2. Turn Your Garage into a Sunshine Lounge

If you don't have a large outdoor deck or patio to relax on, then your garage can be the next best thing. There is no need to waste all of the great extra space you could be enjoying in it by using it to store clutter. After moving items you have stored in it into a storage unit, you can open the door on sunny days and relax in your makeshift solarium.

Just place a small patio table and a few folding chairs inside your garage along with any entertainment devices you desire. Place a small television or radio on a stand close to your table and chairs to turn your garage into a small, airy lounge. By choosing folding chairs and just a small table, you can easily move the items out of the way on rainy days when you want to park in the garage.

If you end up loving the experience of using your garage like a sun-filled room, then you can consider turning it into a permanent new sun room to make it even more enjoyable to lounge in next summer.

3. Finally Use That Workout Room Properly

If you have a workout room that has been performing double-duty as a storage room, then it is time to stop using that treadmill and exercise bike as coat-hangers and brush the dust off of them. Not only should you be using those machines to get in shape for summer beach fun, but exercising every morning can help give you energy all day long to help you keep up with the children at the beach and on the local outdoor playground they love.

It is time for spring cleaning, and that means it is time to officially stop putting off moving all that home and garage clutter into storage, so you can this space in your home again. Start by moving home clutter and winter clothing into the garage, then haul everything from inside the garage right to the storage unit. Make sure to choose a climate-controlled unit to keep everything you store in great shape.
